4 to 5 years
We use the Florida Pre-K standards that are mandated by the state. Our curriculum is designed to prepare the students for early literacy, and pre-math success. It enhances the age-appropriate progress of students in attaining the state-adopted performance standards and prepares students to be ready for kindergarten based on the statewide kindergarten screening.
We have implemented technology in this class, computer knowledge is vital in our society and we believe that the earlier children begin to use the computer, the better. Some experts suggest that allowing preschoolers to have computer time can be beneficial because computer use: introduces educational skills, teaches spatial and logical skills, prepares children for future computer use, increases self-esteem and self-confidence, boosts problem-solving skills, stimulates language comprehension, improves long-term memory and manual dexterity.
The assessment addresses these critical areas of development for school readiness:
-
- Gross motor development
- Fine motor skills development – pre-scissor and cutting development, marker/crayon and easel painting
- Sensor motor and dramatic play
- Structured construction play
- Patterning development (critical thinking)
- Writing development
Ratio: Approximately 1:12.
